Where did Primeknit come from?
There’s an interesting story behind how Primeknit came into existence. In 2010, two footwear developers Astrid Lang and Stefan Tamm from Adidas’s footwear development team went to the annual “tech textile” fair in Germany. There, they found a knitted glove on display. Those gloves were, made from thermoplastic fuse yarns. Thermoplastic fuse yarns represent that it was flexible and stable. And therefore, the very first time they thought that this technology can be used in sneakers and decided to test it on the upper of the sneakers.
Coincidentally, at the same time, Adidas was looking for new innovative ideas for shoe design and they were working with a designer. Lang and Tamm took this opportunity to start working with Alexander Taylor who created some of the initial designs on how this knitted technology will work.
After talking with many footwear experts they came with the prototype model and showed it to the CMO of Adidas Hermann Deininger, after seeing potential in the technology he gave them a project of 12 months to see if they could make Primeknit sneakers a reality.
Features of Primeknit Shoes
Primeknit Shoes are different from simple shoes. It has many features that make it different from the rest. It is light in weight and made up of breathable material. Provide support and stability to players. The knitted nature also creates a sock-like fit, adapting to feet of all shapes and sizes. They are comfortable.
