What is Demonskin Technology?
Adidas has updated its Predator soccer cleat with an innovative technology known as Demonskin. This technology is introduced to enhance the grip and control of the ball. With the help of this technology, they added textured spikes on the upper that create a larger effective contact area between the cleats and ball. These spikes look cool as hell!
Demonskin is created with the computer algorithm that is being used to create an entirely new interface between cleat and ball. Spikes in the boots are fitted on the front and side of the shoes, to give enhanced touch and control on the ball. Another feature that demonskin has is a two-plate stud configuration that reduces the weight. A Sockfit collar that locks down and adjusts to the contours of your foot and outsole enhancing control zones.
Creating the Demonskin material was a challenge for the design team of Adidas, not only in figuring out the combination between the different materials but also since Adidas had to create a new manufacturing process to achieve the vision of the cleats. Designing this cleat was never easy for the design team of Adidas but finally, they did it.
Predator was first launched in 1994, worn by some of the most recognizable players David Beckham, Zinedine Zidane, and Steven Gerrard.
What does the Adidas design team say about Demonskin?
Arnau Sanjuan Roman, Adidas design director, says, “During the creation phase we developed new materials and processes that after testing and having the athlete validation, enabled us to achieve our goal: provide enhanced control on the ball, promoting spin when striking and a disruptive design.”
Artur Markowski, Senior Product Manager at Adidas football says, “Predator is about control”.
How does Adidas Predator 20 Mutator fit?
Demonskin has a sock-like construction that hugs your foot tightly around the midfoot, and it also provides you with space in the forefoot toe box area. The reason for this comfy fit is the redesigned collar. It features a two-part tab system for easy entry; the heel tab provides a slightly more locked-in feel and certainly makes the boot easier to put on and off. Predator 20 mutator is best suited for players with normal to slightly narrower feet.
Are there Adidas Predators for different playing surfaces?
Yes, Adidas Predators Cleats are available for different playing surfaces. It’s important to buy cleats according to your playing surfaces otherwise you may get into the higher injury risk.
Natural Grass Fields: Go for the firm ground cleat (FG) with studs that are made to penetrate the ground for traction.
Artificial Grass Fields: Go for artificial grass (AG) or multi-ground (MG) cleats with conical studs that give you the grip you need without the wear and tear from synthetic fields.
Artificial Turf Fields: Go for artificial turf shoes (TF) with a rectangular studded rubber outsole for optimal traction.
Indoor Courts and Blacktop Surfaces: Go for indoor shoes (IN) with a flat rubber outsole (no studs). The traction pattern is more akin to a tennis shoe.
Conclusion
Adidas Predator 20 Mutator is designed to provide you with more control and grip on the ball. This shoe is built for maximum impact on the ball. If you’re looking for more control then you can go for the Predator 20 Mutator.
